Building capacity on empowerment of women with disabilities

Voice & Views has been building up the capacity of Self Help Groups members of women with disabilities. The EX members of Voice & Views has prepared the training modules in the light of 2 international conventions and 3 national laws to build capacity of women with disabilities about rights. These conventions are: The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities i.e. UNCRPD and The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women i.e. CEDAW. The national laws are: The Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2013, Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 and Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act 2010.It is an ongoing thematic program.

Raise awareness for inclusive education of children with disabilities

To raise community awareness for promoting Inclusive Education for the children and adult women with disabilities Voice & Views implemented a project from: 2014 to 2017. This project was initially own funded and later on partially supported by Abilis Foundation, Finland.

Working Area: Baghata Union of Narsingdi district of Bangladesh.

Total beneficiaries were: 40 children (including children with disabilities and children of parents with disabilities) and 110 Women with disabilities.

Policy advocacy on human rights of burn related women with disability

Voice & Views began the situation analysis study of women burn survivors withsupport Karuna Foundation, Nepal; Human Development Foundation (HDF) and South Asian Women’s Fund (SAWF) i.e. former name of Women’s Fund Asia (WFA). This pioneer work is now going on to meet our organizational objective to ensure inclusion of burn survivor women in women rights movement and disability movement.

It is an ongoing thematic program.

Conduct studies on human rights situations of women with disabilities

Voice & Views has successfully conducted 4 situation analysis studies in 2019-2023 on human rights situation of burn survivor women of Bangladesh.

Building capacity on empowerment of women with disabilities

Voice & Views has formed Self Help Groups (SHGs) in 3 sub-districts of districts in Bangladesh. Our SHGs members are with all types of disabilities i.e. mentioned by UNCRPD and RPPDA 2013 (national law of Bangladesh). We have included 311 burn survivor women in our SHGs. The self-help groups are the pillar of our all activities to raise awareness among our members about our human rights.It is an ongoing thematic program.

Raise awareness about inclusive climate change and environmental justice programs

To raise awareness among community women with disabilities of Bangladesh and government institutions about inclusion of women with disabilities in climate change adaptation and environmental justice programs Voice & Views is working at present.It is an ongoing thematic program

We advocate for the rights and interests of women with disabilities at the local.

Policy Advocacy
We advocate for the rights and interests of women with disabilities at the local, national and international levels. We monitor and influence the implementation of policies and laws that affect them, such as the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the National Action Plan on Disability (NAPD). We also participate in various networks and coalitions with other civil society organizations, government agencies and international bodies.

Support women with disabilities during emergency situations

i) Support for COVID-19 Resilience for Members of Voice & Views
Voice & Views provided both hygiene awareness and direct support through hygiene materials and food items to its members during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ii) Solidarity for Members After July 2024
Voice & Views is supporting its members in overcoming mental trauma. This is an ongoing activity.
